As much as Facebook has been used over the years as a tool to communicate and reach a wider audience, the functions of social media platform took another direction in Connecticut. yet to keep his side of the bargain, fugitive Jose Simms struck a deal with the Connecticut police to turn himself in if his wanted poster gets 15000 likes on Facebook. The deal was finalized on 22 may through Facebook with the Witness being the town’s Lieutenant. Funny enough, the fugitive wanted 20,000 likes but the police wanted only 10,000 likes. In fact, with negotiations being a norm, the likes were brought down to 15,000.

After 13 hours of making the deal, the post had gained 17,000 reactions although it is surprising that the fugitive had not given himself in. Although the police said that updates will be given about the fugitive whereabouts, the law aspects especially the police ethics have question if indeed Facebook is being used to manipulate the police in such a case and many more around the world.
